AES Digital Input Module

(#300) AES Digital
The AES Digital module is the most straightforward audio solution for facilities that route AES audio and use house sync to time audio and video sources. The incoming AES audio sample rate should be equal to the internal sample rate selected for the M16 mixer (48, 96 or 192kHz). The Module Menu in a Renegade Labs M16 mixer allows many of the AES channel status bits, as well as the lock and error status, to be monitored at a glance.

AES SRC Digital Input Module

(#301) AES SRC Digital
The AES SRC Digital module upgrades the standard AES Digital module with the addition of asynchronous sample rate converters on each input pair. This module is recommended for applications where wild (unlocked) sources such as CD players or equipment with varying sample rates are used. A bypass mode—accessible in the Module Menu of the Renegade M16 mixer—allows the sample rate converter to be bypassed for locked inputs when desired.

4-Channel Analog Input Module

(#302) 4-Channel Analog
Four balanced line level inputs and high-quality Burr-Brown ADCs make this module a great choice for analog input sources. The built-in analog gain trims allow operating level to be reached with inputs as hot as +14dBu to as low as -18dBu (peak). Input connections are made on a 15-pin D-Sub connector. A rack-mount external XLR connector bridge is available (see Accessories below) to speed the installation process.

4-Channel Analog w/Mic Input Module

(#303) Analog w/Mic
The Analog w/Mic module uses the same high-performance circuitry as the 4 Channel Analog Input, and adds an additional two channels of balanced mic input on standard XLR connectors. A phantom power switch turns on or off 48V phantom power to both inputs, and an external LED indicator lights to warn when phantom power is active. Onboard jumpers for the pin 1 connections allow multiple grounding options and AES48 compliance.

8-Channel Analog Input Module

(#305) 8-Channel Analog
Using premium-performance 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion, the eight channel balanced line level input module is capable of achieving a dynamic range of 110dB and THD+N better than −100dB. Built-in analog gain trims for each channel allow operating level to be reached with inputs as hot as +14dBu and as low as −13dBu. This module is perfect for converting analog sources to an M16 mixer's digital output formats including AES/EBU and SD/HD SDI. Input connections are made on two 15-pin D-Sub connectors. A rack-mount external XLR connector bridge is available (see Accessories below) to speed the installation process.

SD/HD SDI De-embedder Input Module

(#304) SD/HD SDI De-embedder
The SD/HD SDI de-embedder possesses one input and one loop-through output BNC connector for SD/HD SDI sources. SD or HD format is detected automatically. Any two of the four SDI 4-channel groups may be selected from the SDI embedded audio stream using the Module Setup menu on an M16 mixer display. Asynchronous sample rate converters on the module permit unlocked SDI sources, alternate embedded audio sampling rates, or higher audio mixer internal sample rates to be used without audio 'hits'. Alternatively, the sample rate converters may be bypassed if the mixer is operated at 48kHz and both the mixer and the SDI signal are locked to house sync.

Output Modules

AES Digital Ouput Module

(#310) AES Digital
The AES Digital output provides an additional four AES digital outputs that may be used to drive a second record deck or for digital monitoring. A setup menu on the M16 mixer display allows the outputs to be driven from either the program bus, the monitor bus or the meter bus. The outputs are locked to the mixer and operate at the internal sampling rate of the mixer.

8-Channel Analog Output Module

(#315) Analog
The analog output module adds an additional 8 channels of high-performance analog audio to any Renegade Labs product. Using audiophile quality chips and circuit design, the analog output delivers an incredibly rich and dynamic sound. On the M16 mixer the analog output may be driven from either the program bus, monitor bus or meter bus. For example, the analog output module may be used to drive the monitor speakers in an edit suite while the onboard monitor outputs of the mixer are switched to run an external meter bridge.

Accessories

AES59 (Tascam) Converter

(#344) Analog Output Converter
The Analog Output Converter is a low-cost DB-25 (D-Sub) adapter that converts Renegade Labs 8-channel analog outputs to the common AES59 (aka Tascam) pinout, allowing the use of an off-the-shelf DB-25 to XLR snake cable available from a number of audio accessory resellers. Fully shielded, the Analog Output Converter maintains the existing AES48 compliance of the analog outputs.
