Renegade Labs History

Team Renegade enjoyed the benefit of working together for over a decade before creating this new company. As part of the Emmy award winning Graham-Patten Systems team, each of the Renegade founders gained extensive knowledge and experience in designing, building, testing, selling and supporting industry leading products for the video professional worldwide.

Renegade Labs has taken this experience, applied new technologies, added a keen desire to create products that our customers want and need, and threw in a bit of renegade styled energy. The result is the creation of a family of high quality products we hope you will rely on for years to come.

2003

  • Immediately after leaving Graham-Patten Systems, the engineering team began working on a concept for a new, ultra compact digital audio mixer designed specifically for handling audio in the video world. Our customers had been telling us for years that a simple, very small, multi-format digital audio mixer was needed in NLE suites, mobile trucks, Telecine bays, and for Master Control.

2004

  • In a suite across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center during NAB 2004, Renegade Labs shows a proto-type of the Blue|328 Digital Audio mixer to a select group of distribution partners and key customers. Ideas taken from these meetings are utilized as the product nears completion.
  • In June, Renegade Labs is founded by Kirk Bradford, John Henkel, Bob Johnson, Keith Knudsen, and Reed Lawson. Business is initially conducted from the home of Kirk Bradford in Grass Valley, California.
  • The Blue|328 Digital Audio Mixer is introduced at InterBEE 2004 on the Totsu International booth.

2005

  • The US debut of the Blue|328 occurred at NAB 2005.
  • Shipment of first Blue|328 to Digital Jungle in Hollywood for Beta testing and later installed permanently at Digital Jungle.
  • Blue|328 wins Pick Hit award from Broadcast Engineering at IBC in Amsterdam.

2006

  • Gray|328 is introduced at NAB 2006.
  • John Henkel leaves Renegade Labs to pursue other business interests.
  • Shipment of the first Gray|328 to Totsu International for Beta testing in Japan.
